Welcome to El Cerrito Tennis Club!
Thank you for joining El Cerrito Tennis Club (ECTC)! We’ve prepared this introductory guide to help you get started and to get the most out of your ECTC membership. If you have any questions, please email Ed Tretriluxana, Membership Chair, at ectcmembers@gmail.com.
Membership Directory
Our online membership directory is available on our website at https://www.ectennis.org/membership, or you can choose “Member Directory” under “The Club” tab (the password is “ectc25”). This is a great resource for finding players to hit with. Based on your feedback, only emails and phone numbers are displayed to protect your privacy.
Communications
You’ll receive a monthly email newsletter with important Board actions and announcements. You may also receive periodic eBlasts reminding you of upcoming fun events. Please make sure that your spam blocker allows ECTC emails through.
Recreational Play
ECTC offers many opportunities for recreational play, with no to very low commitment on your part. We want to make playing tennis fun and easy for you!!
Weekly Drop-In Practices: ECTC offers four weekly drop-in opportunities based on skill level. To make this experience fun and productive for everyone, players MUST attend a drop-in that is at their skill level. These drop-in practices are NOT mixed levels or opportunities to “play up.” Coordinators have the prerogative to inform players who are not playing at the appropriate level for a given drop-in. The drop-ins are free for ECTC members. They are $5/session for non-members, for up to 3 sessions, after which they must join the club to continue enjoying this benefit for members.:
Monday: Advanced (4.0+ skill level) at Albany Memorial Park in December 2024 and at Cerrito Vista thereafter, 6:30-8:30 pm. Contact Ed Tretriluxana at tsukit@hotmail.com.

Monthly Drop-In Mixers: ECTC hosts monthly events to provide opportunities for members to socialize and play doubles in a mixed level setting, including a “Red Eye” event on New Year’s Day, a mixed doubles tournament in April, a celebration of Wimbledon and the U.S Open during the summer months, and a turkey trot in November. These events are announced in the monthly newsletters.
Social Tennis: ECTC members are invited to join two groups that meet weekly to play doubles.

Competitive Play
ECTC sponsors competitive teams through the USTA and the East Bay Women’s Tennis League (formerly, Bay Area Ladies League). USTA teams are formed based on age and skill level, and include men’s, women’s, and mixed teams. Please contact Xuan Nguyen 0xuan.nguyen0@gmail.com or Ellen de Neef edeneef@me.com if you are interested in learning more about USTA teams.
ECTC sponsors two senior women’s teams through the East Bay Women’s Tennis League that play on weekday mornings. Contact Susan Brand at sbrand@brandxstories.com or Elena Gonzalez at elenavgonzales@gmail.com for more information.
Summer Skills Clinics
Once again, we are privileged to have USPTA Coach Marcos Manqueros provide tennis skills and strategy clinics for players at all levels this summer. More information will be provided in upcoming monthly newsletters.
And finally…
We are an all-volunteer organization, and it takes a lot of time and effort to run an organization of our size. So please be kind and patient with us, as we do our best to meet your tennis needs. Also consider helping us out by volunteering! It takes many hands to plan and run our events, and our events are only successful if we have participation from our members, so reach out to Lynn or Ed at ectcmembers@gmail.com if you are able to help us. Again, welcome to our ECTC community—we’re happy to have you here, and see you on the courts!
